  3. You’ll be redirected to Slack’s OAuth consent screen. Approve the requested permissions (chat:write, incoming-webhook, channels:read).
  4. Slack redirects back to Shimmer and the connection is saved.

What triggers a notification

A Slack message is sent whenever an admin recommends a piece of content (via the content action menu → Recommend for Sharing). The message includes:
  • Content title and a truncated body preview
  • Author and category
  • Who recommended it
  • A “View in Shimmer” button linking directly to the content

Testing the connection

From the admin settings page, use the Send Test Message button. This sends a sample message to the configured channel.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect in admin settings. This removes the connection.

Microsoft Teams

Connecting Teams

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations (Teams section).
  2. Click Connect Teams.
  3. You’ll be redirected to Microsoft’s OAuth consent screen. Approve the scopes: ChannelMessage.Send, Channel.ReadBasic.All, Team.ReadBasic.All, offline_access, openid.
  4. On redirect back, Shimmer auto-selects the first available team and its General channel (or first channel). If a team/channel is found, the integration is marked enabled immediately.

What gets posted to Teams

Notifications use Adaptive Cards (v1.4) and are triggered when content is recommended. Each card contains:
  • Header: ”📌 Content Recommended for Sharing”
  • Content title and a 200-character body preview
  • A fact set: Author, Category, Recommender
  • A “View Content” action button

Testing the connection

Click Test Connection in admin settings. This sends an Adaptive Card reading ”✅ Teams integration test successful!” to the configured channel.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect in admin settings. This removes the connection.
